Its pantomime season at a theatre near you. Backstage in a dressing room are two quite different actors preparing to go onstage as Ugly Sisters in a production of Cinderella. One enjoys the glamour of the theatre and wearing dresses and make up; the other prefers a few pints after a game of footie with the lads. How ever will they survive sharing a dressing room for four weeks?
The Panto Girls is a comedy with darker moments and a few surprises, and is about the theatre and two men who spend their working lives in the acting profession.
Andrew Cullum and Oliver Hume were the Ugly Sisters in the pantomime at Solihull Arts Complex, Christmas 2009. The Panto Girls is partially inspired by their own experiences. And its all true..Oh no it isnt!

How will they get on? The Panto Girls is a comedy with darker moments.

Inspired by the urban myth When the lions drink, London will sink, Bad Host imagines a flooded London. Combining poetry and news broadcasts, live music, improvisation and a rich sensory environment, Bad Host weave a tale of a drowned capital and the remnants washed up in the sediment.
Bad Host was formed in 2011 on the MA in Advanced Theatre Practice course at the Central School of Speech and Drama. We create experiential, immersive theatre which responds to unusual environments and acknowledges the audience as a live and playful presence. Our first performance, Occupied, was a series of three intimate one-on-one encounters at the BAC in July 2011.

Set in Corsica in the late nineteenth century, the opera explores the ambiguity surrounding the mazzere – women gifted with the prescience of death. If they foresee death, do they also cause it? The men hunt by day, but the women hunt in their dreams.
Angela and Catarina are the daughters of Domenico, a widowed smallholder. Sampiero, son of the mayor, is betrothed to Angela, but it is her younger sister Catarina whom he really desires.
The opera turns on a collision of two worlds: the world of dreams, where our fantasy knows no bounds, and the ‘real’ world where our actions will be judged. As the story unfolds, imagination and reality become entwined.
The first half of the evening presents two chamber works:
Libby Larsen Trio in Four Movements
Annea Lockwood Monkey Trips
Presented by The Mornington Trust and Lontano Trust Ltd in co-production with Wilton's Music Hall.

Kafka v Kafka is about the struggle to communicate and it's seeming impossibility.
It's about an ex-soldier and shopkeeper and a lawyer and writer of genius.
It's about first and second generation migrants to a world city.
It's about the wall between a father and a son.
'To better a complete misunderstanding shouldn't be impossible.'

For the last 20 years, I've followed my icon around the world, trying to persuade everyone in my way he's not the man the media has made out.
Not only has it annoyed the hell out of my friends and family, its now annoying me.
So what do I do? Is it time to hang up that white glove for the last time and accept people's opinions or should I be proud and stand up for what I believe in?
In this journey, I will take a look back at why I became so obsessed with such a controversial figure and the difficulty I still have with letting it go. Filled with hilarious anecdotes of my experiences as a Jacko fan, this is a story about how being such a defensive ambassador for the man has affected my relationships with people around me.
This is a show less about Michael Jackson, but more about me and how being such an avid supporter of such a controversial figure has shaped me as a person.

She want to be white: eat bread every morning, like angmo(1) woman? - but every night she shower before sleeping. English people dont care they smelly, dirty, go straight to bed, then shower in the morning. How can you belong if you shower before sleeping?
Lee Sar harbours a secret desire of fulfilling a life-long dream. After back paddling, taking wrong turns and being trapped under her husband's grip, she is finally ready to break free. But, her sister Lee Aun arrives in London with disturbing news from Singapore and coerces Lee Sar to return to her homeland. With it will come money. Lee Sar has to make a choice. Will she be forever bound to her past? Will she never assert her true self?
Laced with humour and dramatic poignancy, this moving new play by Rosaline Ting explores a sense of belonging and identity. It reveals fascinating aspects of Chinese culture with universal echoes.
Director Tanja Pagnuco uses sound as a central element to tell the story. Gerbils scratch at a cage, wind rattles the glass conservatory, music drifts from an upstairs bedroom... the sound becomes at times a humourous device forming a counterpoint to the dramatic narrative; and at other times, it heightens the emotions. As the play unfolds, the audience gradually submerge into a sensory experience, allowing them to feel Lee Sar's plight.

Proscenium is a scratch of the first stages of a site-specific work Lundahl and Seitl are making for Dramaten, The Royal National Theater in Stockholm.
In this new work, the company take inspiration from Arnold Bcklings enigmatic painting, Toten Insel, a masterpiece that also formed the backdrop for August Strindbergs unfamiliar script that never was completed.
Focusing on the transference that takes place between actor and audience; Proscenium places the visitor on a drifting unseen stage. Virtual transmissions of the actors voices steer conversations, as visions of collective images appear. A Requiem for the Theatre, Proceniums inverted darkened stage serves as the backdrop for a work where the Theatre is playing itself.

Still-Night is a work in progress toward the creation of a 40-minute show that takes as its protagonist the City in which it is being performed, inspired by Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities.
This scratch will be focused on the first part of the show: a lecture on the city of London, sometimes described in details very familiar to the audience and sometimes slipping away until it seems an imaginary city, a long-lost world, a metropolis of many faces.
Silvia and Gemma have been working together since 2003. Their prime interest has always been in drawing the audience's attention to the outside world without altering it's normal rhythm but rather by over-imposing a soundtrack or a story played out to a privileged audience disguised within their surroundings. Their work is informed and inspired by the architecture and geography of a place and by the life that inhabits it, placing the audience in the role of strangers and encouraging them to encounter the city as though for the first time.

He brings to Wilton’s his classic one-man show Frustration (Frustra-Azioni). Based on a true story from 1920, it depicts the obsessed schizophrenic personality of a butcher who imagines himself a male cow, wears a minotaur mask, and pursues offbeat bovine erotic fantasies.
Performed in English and Italian, it is so explicit in its pantomime that foreign-language portions are understandable.
D'Ambrosi's work is deeply rooted in Commedia dell’Arte and takes a perspective regarding "normal" people's view of the village idiots, or zanni. It is inspired by and often deals directly with the mentally ill. D’Ambrosi (a former professional soccer player) founded the celebrated Teatro Patologico in 1992. The company occupies itself with a unique and universal work; that of trying to unite the theatre and mental health and people with serious psychological problems. The company was based in XVI Municipal building of Via Ramazzini, Rome and in 2006 the regional government of Lazio gave the company a new home in Via Cassia, 472. The company was then able to fully realize their ambition to create a theatre school for people with mental health problems, creating a unique theatre workshop, a place for meetings, encounters, initiatives and projects.
D’Ambrosi has received the equivalent of a Tony Award – for lifetime achievement - from the Instituto del Drama Italiano.
"Any piece by Mr. D'Ambrosi is about each member of the audience. A viewer who surrenders disbelief for a moment will be carried away in an unimaginable world of chaos, wit, bewilderment”

EuroCrash! The Musical
Words by David Shirreff
Music by Russell Sarre
Directed by Ross Livingstone
This is the semi-serious story of the euro, wrapped in a fairy tale. We meet Mark and Gilda - the Hansel and Gretel of Euroland - as they discover the fantasy world of the single currency; Papa Kohl and Madame Mitterrand, a charming couple who hold it all together; the Snake, a clanky prototype; Jean-Claude Trichet, the last great eurocrat; the PIIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain), paying for past profligacy; the dark eminence of the mighty Bundesbank; and the wild, exotic currencies of central Europe.
All this gives us something between Gilbert & Sullivan and Berthold Brecht, with hard-hitting lyrics and great songs - all original. A thoroughly entertaining show of not much more than an hour, which will appeal to experts and laymen alike. No previous experience of the single currency is needed.

Grieving for a lost love she seeks solace in the arms of another man, but with her husband's return and the realisation she's with child seemingly small actions have set in motion seismic events.

The Boy James allows its visitors the password to a strictly secret world; a safe haven where they can while away their time and get in touch with their inner child. Let your adult sensibilities go, join in the games and forget the cruel world on the other side of the window. But as the tick tock of the clock goes on, you too will have to face the inevitable voyage.
After a run at Southwark Playhouse in January 2011, The Boy James is returning to a different location for three weeks as part of Southwark Playhouses Out and About programme. The show will make a new home above The Goldsmith, a bar and restaurant built originally as part of Southwarks London Fire Brigade Station. As always, the company will be transforming the space into a fully formed immersive environment. From multiple critically acclaimed and sell-out runs in London and Edinburgh comes a dark, beautiful tale of one boys awakening to the harsh realities of adulthood. Following the success of last years TIME OUT CRITICS CHOICE, five star, sell out production of the Shakespeare rediscovery DOUBLE FALSEHOOD, award winning director Phil Willmott blows the dust off the bards unjustly neglected historical thriller for the first production in London in ten years..
Last years modern world premiere of the disputed Shakespeare romance Double Falsehood received international press and TV coverage and demand for tickets was so great it transferred to the West End for an extra week of performances; so early booking is recommended.
A rare opportunity to experience a powerful, fast moving study of monarchy in meltdown unseen in London since the RSCs 2001 production.
Struggling to hold on to power in an England embattled against European and religious forces, KING JOHN is a resonant tale of a desperate monarch.

A comedy about a motorway bridge2012-02-092012-02-12Harry Denford'Joy Division' & 'The Bridge' - REMOTEGOAT review 2008
"Relevant & Powerful Denford Drama" ****
by Tenille Wong
A double bill is always an exciting, if daunting, prospect. Am I going to get two plays each following a similar idea reworked with characters suffering similar fates with only the geography to differentiate? Well fear not, the pairing of Harry Denford's The Bridge & Joy Division couldn't be more contrasting.
Just looking at Harry's rap sheet you immediately realise that this man is no one-trick pony. His body of work which includes acting, stand up comedy, writing & directing clearly shows we are dealing with a man who is complex, diverse and not afraid of a challenge.
First up is The Bridge. The story of one bridge & two jumpers, each trying to persuade the other to leave so they can get it over with in peace. When an enthusiastic traffic cop is thrown into the mix a curious twist ensues.
Director Tim Macavoy is brilliant as the instantly likeable obsessive male bridge jumper. This is a fun light-hearted comedy with neurotic characters I think we can all relate to in some way.

Winner of both Olivier and Tony Awards for Best Comedy, this celebrated comedy serves up a riotous double bill - a play within a play. Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, the film was originally released to theaters on November 14, 1989 and is the twenty-eighth film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, and the first of the Disney Renaissance. During its initial release, The Little Mermaid earned $84 million in North American box office revenue, and has to date earned $211 million in total lifetime gross.
After the success of the 1988 Disney/Amblin film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Little Mermaid is given credit for breathing life back into the art of animated feature films after a string of critical or commercial failures that dated back to the early 1980s. It also marked the start of the era known as the Disney Renaissance.
Ariel a sixteen-year-old mermaid princess, is dissatisfied with life under the sea and curious about the human world. With her best fish friend Flounder Ariel collects human artifacts and goes to the surface of the ocean to visit Scuttle the seagull, who offers very inaccurate knowledge of human culture. She constantly ignores the warnings of her father, King Triton and adviser, Sebastian that contact between merpeople and humans is forbidden, longing to join the human world and become a human herself.
Follow her adventures in this film that revitalised the art of animation for Disney

The film is based on the stage musical Oliver!, with book, music and lyrics written by Lionel Bart. The screenplay was written by Vernon Harris.
Both the film and play are based on Charles Dickens' novel Oliver Twist. The musical includes several musical standards, including "Food, Glorious Food", "Consider Yourself", "As Long as He Needs Me", "You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two" and "Where Is Love?".
The film version was a Romulus Films production and was distributed internationally by Columbia Pictures. It was filmed in Shepperton Film Studio in Surrey.
At the 41st Academy Awards in 1969, Oliver! , which had earlier been nominated for eleven Academy Awards, won six, including Awards for Best Picture, and Best Director for Carol Reed. Based on Charles Dickens' novel Oliver Twist, this 1968 film follows the trail and adventures of the Orphan of that name. Introducing Mark Lester in the title role, and adapted from both Lionel Bart's play and Dickens's novel. The screenplay was written by Vernon Harris, and the film was directed by Sir Carol Reed, who was also Oliver Reed's uncle.
