Amazed and deeply moved by Ingrid Bergman, Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn or Paul Newman’s works which feed his passion ever since he can remember. Luis trained at several institutions such as Drama Centre London, HB Studio NY and Osqui Guzmán & Leti González de Lellis in Buenos Aires. He began to materialise his acting seeds when he entered Caín Teatro whilst studying Architecture. He co-funded both performing arts collectives El Hijo Tonto and Tostada es Pan and the platform for architectural and queer identity investigation: A Esther Moya le robaron una medalla/ . Fan of track-shots and the bizarre situations that start being ordinary and mundane.
What first attracted you to the theatre?
The passion for exploring life
If you could pick any one person or theatre company to work with on your next project, who/which would it be?
I'd love to work with Rodrigo García.
What is your opinion of Off West End theatre, in general?
It's very necessary. The Off West End should focus, more than ever, on being a springboard for risky politically incorrect productions. Plays that would never make it into the mainstream. As well as keeping its own flexible idiosyncrasy. The Off West End shouldn't be just a step for creatives on their way to the West End. The Off West End is an entity itself! Let's keep giving voice to unexpected, underground productions.
What was the most inspiring performance you have ever seen? Why?
Sorry they are all cinema performances. Isabelle Huppert in La Pianiste, Barbara Stanwyck in Double Indemnity, Ingrid Bergman in Hostonaten, Carmen Maura in Mujeres al Borde de un Ataque de Nervios
What piece of work are you the most proud of?
A production I once directed called Mesa de hijos de Puta (Table of Motherfuckers)
A wonderful personal cataclysm. 13 people having a lunch with music and choreographed moments.
What things in your personal life do you draw from when you perform?
Everything. Ryan Gosling said once: "All my characters are me. I'm not a good enough actor to become a character. I hear about actors who become the role and I think 'I wonder what that feels like'. Because for me, they're all me. I relate to these characters because aspects of their personality are like me. And I just turn up the parts of myself that are them and turn down the parts that aren't."
Who is the best actor/actress performing on Off West End today?
I'll mention two: Kace Monney & Max Keeble.
Musical, comedy or drama- what’s your preference to watch?
All of them.
Can you tell our readers about what you’re doing now/next?
The Luncheon. A surreal two-hander play which explores space, time and matter over the course of one lunch. Co-written, produced and directed alongside Kace Monney.
