The team behind the Offie Award-winning revival of Barrie Keeffe’s Barbarians is bringing one of Shakespeare’s best loved plays to Tooting as A Midsummer Night’s Dream comes to the Broadway Studios.

Directed by Bill Buckhurst, who was nominated for an Off West End Theatre Award (Offie) for Barbarians last year, A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be performed in a former Youth Enterprise Scheme just off Tooting High Street, bringing a touch of the urban to Shakespeare’s intoxicating tale of magical beings and foolish mortals.

“Fringe theatre at its most vital and alive.” ««««Critics’ Choice – Time Out on Barbarians

Tooting Arts Club’s 2012 production of Barrie Keeffe’s Barbarians saw actor Thomas Coombes win an Offie Award for Best Male and Bill Buckhurst an Offie nomination for Best Director, helping cement the company’s reputation for staging high quality professional productions with a local flavour in an area that lacks a permanent home for theatre.

“The strong script and very talented young cast make it well worth the trip south on the Northern Line.” ««««What’s On Stage on Barbarians

Aside from directing Barbarians and Tinderbox for Tooting Arts Club, Bill Buckhurst’s include Riff Raff at the Arcola in 2010, The Vegemite Tales in the West End and productions at Theatre 503 and several touring productions for Shakespeare’s Globe.
