About: The Human Computer

Welcome to The Human Computer, a cardboard cabaret of stories and skewed stand-up about computers by award-winning writer/comedian Will Adamsdale, a man who knows nothing about computers.

Will traces his own relationship with the infernal machines through school, college dissertations and a beginner’s course at the Brixton library by transforming himself into the titular Human Computer, complete with drop down menu and a handmade arrow. Dodging the spam that threatens to engulf him, Will embarks on a comic journey into the wiry heart of the interweb.

Will Adamsdale is the multi-award winning creator of Jackson’s Way, winner of the Perrier award in 2004, and The Receipt, winner of a Fringe First and a Total Theatre Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2006. Commissioned by and developed at BAC, The Human Computer was performed to great acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival 2007, being described as ‘fizzing with imagination’ (The Scotsman) and ‘a flight of fancy both hilarious and heroic.’ (The Herald). It now returns to BAC as part of Studio 68 for its first ever London run.

The Human Computer is produced by the ‘indispensable’ Fuel (The Guardian), who won a Herald Angel and Total Theatre award at the Fringe 2005 for their work with dynamic new theatre companies and artists. The Human Computer is part of an ongoing collaboration with dramaturg Kate McGrath at Fuel following their success on Jackson’s Way and The Receipt.
