About: The Liberation of Colette Simple

Performed as part of The London Festival of Cabaret

The Liberation of Colette Simple is an enticing blend of cabaret and music theatre inspired by the early Tennessee Williams’ play The Case of the Crushed Petunias. Eight top writers have reinterpreted Williams’ distinctive style into songs boldly scored by Vincent Guibert, a 21st Century Kurt Weill and featuring new cabaret sensation Nathalie Carrington and actor Adam Byron. As a five piece band let rip we watch the story of a small town woman and her extraordinary liberation in a magic realist world where canaries transform into cops and back again and strange visitors cough up petunia petals, brought to life in a stunningly imaginative show which will transport, challenge and delight.

“There’s a performance of knockout modesty from Nathalie Carrington, succulent and witty. She’s a cabaret artist as well as an actor, and somebody should cast her quickly as a star” – The Guardian
