About: The Hive

The Hive is a story about rediscovering human connection, in an environment where over time people have become totally reliant on technology.

Exploring this idea through the use of puppetry, story-telling, poetry and choreographed movement, The Human Zoo bring to the stage a show which is visually spectacular, cutting straight to the centre of what is rapidly becoming a modern day dilemma. What are we left with when technology fails?

This production is supported by the New Diorama Emerging Companies Fund.

The Human Zoo Theatre Company makes theatre about people. That's fairly basic. What we're really inspired by is looking at the way that groups of people behave, and then looking at the individuals behind those actions. We find the idea of 'herd' mentality really fascinating; the capacity people have for losing themselves to the movement of something larger than each person making up the crowd, the gang, the commuters on a train, the angry mob at a football stadium. That's what gets us out of bed in the morning, and the question we aim to explore through our work.

'Passionate, distinctive and fresh'
Lee Simpson, Co-Artistic Director of Improbable
