About: Article 10

Fresh from performances at Glastonbury Festival 2015 and after sell-out runs at Camden Fringe in 2014 & 2013, Closing the Gap Theatre return to Camden Fringe with their brand new, devised piece about Freedom of Expression. Article 10 is named after an article of the same name in the European Convention on Human Rights: Freedom of Expression.

Closing the Gap has created an all-new immersive show on the power of the voice. In response to the result of the most recent General Election; one of the closest races in decades with a result not even the exit polls could predict and with the UK election results meaning a majority government for the Conservative party, the Human Rights Act itself is set for reform.

Elsewhere in the arts and media, posters are being taken down in tube stations for fear of being offensive to Jewish people; lines are being removed from West End productions for fear of being offensive to diabetics; and a petition to have a columnist removed from a newspaper for a highly contentious article on drowning immigrants received over 300,000 signatures.

Devised work inspired by interviews with Katie Hopkins, theatre producer Cressida Brown, Glenda Jackson MP, playwright Julia Pascal & professor Dennis Hayes.

Venue: Aces & Eights Bar
156-158 Fortess Road,
Tufnell Park,

Review from our last show, ‘Chances’-Camden Fringe 2014:

‘Given that two nights have already sold out, this gem of a show isn't going to be seen by many people – which makes it all the more special. My plain advice would be that if this sounds like it might appeal, book your tickets now because there's probably little chance you'll get a walk-up. And frankly, this is a show that deserves to be sold out every night. After the grand Time: Four. Us Two. and An Evening of the Absurd: Are We Still Waiting for Godot?, Closing the Gap and Joe Allan have pulled it out of the bag again. What are the chances?’ -
