Tabard Theatre
by By Daisy Ashford in a new adaptation by Mary Franklin
Genre(s): Comedy

Tickets: £15 - £17

Mr Salteena, the most naïve and endearing of social climbers, is in love with Miss Ethel Monticue and set on becoming ‘the real thing’ to win her heart. His romance is threatened when he introduce his flighty beloved to a noble lord in possession of ‘very nice long legs’...

Written by a nine year old girl and published by J.M Barrie, The Young Visiters is full of innocent – or not so innocent – double entendres and social comedy, with some of literature's least conventional spellings thrown in for good measure, it has been a cult for a century.

Rough Haired Pointer invite you to join them for a truly 'uncommon' visit.

Rupert Christiansen of The Daily Telegraph “A delicious concoction, served up with wit, charm and grace, stylishly directed by Mary Franklin and animated by some brilliant comic acting.”

The Times “Mary Franklin’s group Rough-Haired Pointer... offer adult laughs at the unchaperoned adventures of Ethel, yet respect the book’s barmy exuberance and gallant malapropisms... Excellent fun.”

The Public Reviews ★★★★★ “this is story-telling at its very best.”

A Younger Theatre “complex, charming and hilarious... involving, multi-layered and heart-warming”

One Stop Arts ★★★★★ “Whimsical and utterly charming... I could not stop smiling and laughing throughout – this is a really lovely, funny, charming piece, and I can't wait to see what this young company does next."

Henry Hitchings of The Evening Standard “A kind of haphazard joie de vivre”
Remote Goat ★★★★ “You’d be hard pressed to find a sweeter more superficially innocent tale.”

What’s Peen Seen ★★★★ “A play like no other… utterly charming”

View From The Gods ★★★★ "This is undeniably a great piece of writing that Rough Haired Pointer have adapted into a great production. It's paced well, with solid laughs from start to finish – proof that talent can shine through at any age."
