DAYS OF SIGNIFICANCE
On from 12 Mar 2008 till 29 Mar 2008
Tricycle Theatre
by Roy Williams
Genre(s): Drama

About: DAYS OF SIGNIFICANCE

Two young soldiers make the most of a drunken night out with their friends before they leave for active service in Iraq. Once there, their personal lives and insecurities directly impact on their tour of duty.

Explosive and thought provoking, Roy Williams’ new play, written in response to Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, offers a fresh insight into the consequences of modern warfare within a society that appears to tragically fail its young.

Captioned performance: Thurs 27 March.

The RSC London season of New Writing continues with two unflinching portraits of how war impacts on the souls and imaginations of our youth, from two of our freshest, most pertinent young dramatists – starting with Leo Butler's I'LL BE THE DEVIL, followed by DAYS OF SIGNIFICANCE by Roy Williams.

Reviews

"Passionate, powerful and important. One of the most disturbing but entirely persuasive portraits of young England I have ever seen. Williams writes with a raw urgency and considerable technical flair. Gripping stuff." Daily Telegraph
