Cabaret Playroom
On from 28 Feb 2017 till 28 Feb 2017
The Albany
Genre(s): Drama

- Pay-What-You-Decide

About: Cabaret Playroom

Established artists and emerging performers bring ground-breaking works-in-progress to the Albany.

Now in its sixth season, the roll call of performers who've tried out new work in the Albany's intimate studio space to date includes Matthew Floyd-Jones, Ria Lina, Holly Penfield, Marcus Reeves, Kiki Lovechild and Tim Redfern. The night is co-curated by cabaret performer Tricity Vogue, and Lisa Lee of Rude Grrl.

Mrs Jonjo continues his adventures into the deeper darker realms of clown with his highest concept and lowest humour act yet. A time traveling butcher, Cher impersonator and son of noted politician who has come to tell you warnings of the future and try to save it by killing someone (in no way affiliated with a major movie franchise).

Andrew Pepper is torn. A bit like Natalie Imbruglia, but less cold and shamed. He really doesn't want to bang on about his sexuality, but people keep killing the gays. He has a responsibility to speak up, to be out and proud. Doesn't he?

Rebecca W Morris is experimenting with how we can use words and songs to rouse our rebel collective spirits, collaborating with beat boxers and musicians. Stand up! Listen! Don't allow yourself to be drowned out! Become a voice for the future!

Leela Bunce is a cabaret performer, clown and silly lady who, with Tricity Vogue created the infamous Time Out Critics Choice Night of the Bluestockings. Twice shortlisted for a London Cabaret Award, tonight Leela is bringing along a new character, Cheryl, doyenne of all things upholstery.

Ginny Evans-Pollard performs Sunday Service: Sister Rainbow brings Clown and Neo-burlesque to the stage with a guest appearance from Vulva puppet. A tale of self-discovery and acceptance. Off-the-wall, animated and confessional
in style, Evans invites you in with a smile, and leaves you feeling you have been to places you have never been before.

Hosted by Tricity Vogue.
