Speeches

Barbican
by Lone Twin

About: Speeches

Following Spiral in bite07, Lone Twin returns with another unique site specific performance.

From the politics of queuing and how to be rude to the dexterity and speed of a local supermarket assistant, members of the public living and working around the Barbican share their personal passions, thoughts and feelings.

In collaboration with Lone Twin and a professional speechwriter, participants will develop a speech to be delivered in a location pertinent to its content, culminating in a series of short performance events; a collection of private thoughts shared in public spaces.

A series of site specific performances taking place around the Barbican and local area
Each speech lasts approximately 15 mins

An information point will be located at the Advance Box Office, Silk Street entrance from 13–21 Sep

Created and performed by Gary Winters and Gregg Whelan of Lone Twin
Working with Helen MacKintosh
Commissioned by barbicanbite08

For more information on times, locations and reservations please email speeches@barbican.org.uk

Over the past decade Lone Twin has become one of the UK’s leading performance companies, creating an internationally celebrated body of work. Committed to creating entertaining and hopeful projects, the company’s activities range from context-specific performances to a variety of works for stage, gallery and television.

The company was last seen at the Barbican earlier this year with the line-dancing marathon Ghost Dance and with Spiral (bite07), an impossible journey around the spaces of the Barbican.
