About: Verde, Agua y Luna

Verde, Agua y Luna is set in the final minutes before the death of Spanish writer Federico Garcia Lorca. The Action, which is woven together from his plays and poems, takes place in the writer's prison cell; his final moments an assault by the very characters he created. The play is performed in Spanish -with comments and subtitles in English projected in the background- so none of the power and music of Lorca's original text is lost.
Verde (Green), Agua (Water) and Luna (the Moon) are the poet and dramatist's three recurring images, an understanding of which is critical to unlocking his work and imagination

"Spanish Poetry, Freedom and Light:
Estevez and Gayol performance in the original Spanish lends the piece an intensity which illustrates the desperation and doom of the characters, Lorca, and ultimately Spain".
Maureen Mckarkiel -Remotegot- Four stars.

These short dramatised extracts of Lorca's work are the reason why this Spanish-language play communicates so well to an English Speaking audience. Lorca's poetry loses its musicality in translation, and so English subtitles are projected onto a screen, giving the gist without losing the music of the Spanish poetry, which is beautifully spoken and brought to life by the two actors as they embody the various characters.
Stefanie Borkum -Ventana Latina- Five stars.
