Vlatka Horvat Exhibition
On from 13 Nov 2008 till 29 Nov 2008
Battersea Arts Centre
by Vlatka Horvat

About: Vlatka Horvat Exhibition

With a strong connection to performance, Vlatka Horvat’s work makes use of a range of media from video and photography to works on paper and projects with text. She stages puzzling encounters between a human figure and elements of the built environment. Comical, mischievous and unsettling, her work explores aspects of experience that are difficult to put into words, or depict in images – feelings of doubt, hesitation, restlessness, and of being lost.

Vlatka’s practice increasingly involves collaborative projects with other artists – most recently with Tim Etchells, artistic director of Forced Entertainment, including Promises & Threats and Insults & Praises as part of Art Sheffield 08, and Money For Nice at the V&A (2005). The work to be exhibited at BAC will include her remarkable photo series’ Hiding and Obstructed, her disconcerting video Out On A Limb, and her unsettling collages Anatomies, shown together here for the first time in Britain.

The exhibition is open to visitors free of charge. It runs alongside Station House Opera’s Mind Out, and audiences are welcome to view the exhibition before the show.
