Gate Theatre
by Charles L. Mee
Genre(s): Drama

About: Big Love

The Gate Theatre presents the UK premiere of BIG LOVE.

Legendary the world over for his dizzyingly kaleidoscopic theatrical collages, American playwright and historian Charles Mee comes to the Gate this fall. Pillaging the ruins of Western history in order to transform Aeschylus's Suppliant Women into an explosive and musical exploration of love, relationships, violence, power, and other contemporary myths, Mee rips on sources from Valerie Solanus and Frances Mayes to Brides Magazine and Dusty Springfield.

Cast includes: Helen Baker, Alexi Kaye Campbell, Bradley Turner, Tim Hardy, Georgia Mackenzie, Ann Mitchell, Alex Waldmann and Victoria Yeates.

Directed by Melissa Kievman
Designed by Hannah Clark, Winner of the Linbury Biennial Prize for Stage Design 2005
Choreography by Ann Yee
Lighting by David Howe
Sound by Neil Alexander

“Like a bridal bouquet that is flung out into the audience, [Big Love] is enormously crowd pleasing”
