Cabaret in the House

Launching the 18th season of London’s longest running West End style cabaret

11 October to 13 December 2009

Produced by Lauderdale House and Trilby Productions

Programmed by Tim McArthur

Since Cabaret in the House was launched in February 2001 we have welcomed over 330 performers and 7,100 audience members to a total of 118 performances over 17 seasons. Our programmer Tim McArthur has encouraged many cabaret ‘virgins’ to make their debut here, including Susannah Fellows, Joanna Riding and Louise Gold who have developed a real taste for the genre.

We have also featured experienced cabaret artists – Kit & The Widow, Issy van Randwyck, Rosie Ashe – and had our brush with TV fame – Helena Blackman (How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria), Sarah Lark (I’d Do Anything) and, this season, Nicole Faraday from ITV’s Bad Girls. The shows regularly attract audience members from the business and in the past we’ve spotted Maureen Lipman, Sian Phillips and Liz Smith amongst others.

Highlights of our 18th season include:
Ray Shell who has been a permanent fixture on West End stages since creating the role of Rusty in Starlight Express. His fascinating career has encompassed numerous West End musicals and drama, recording, directing, writing and recently internet TV (
Nicole Faraday is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Snowball Merriman in ITV’s Bad Girls and received a TMA award for performing as Shell Dockley in the West End production.
Gabriel Vick is currently appearing as Jean Michel in La Cage aux Folles;
Shona White appeared alongside Elton John in concert at The Royal Albert Hall and in the West End as Betty in Shout!
