About: 35 Magical Years of Chickenshed

Lords, Ladies, Celebrities and the pick of London’s society will be attending a spectacular fundraising Gala at The Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday 17 November.

The occasion will mark is a double celebration – the 35th Birthday of Chickenshed and the 20th Annual Fundraising Gala Event organised by Chickenshed’s President Lady Jane Rayne.

Joanna Lumley, the actress and former model best known for her roles in Absolutely Fabulous and The New Avengers and most recently for her tireless campaigning for the Gurkhas rights to retire to the UK, will be speaking about the work of Chickenshed and making a distinctive birthday appeal.

Victoria Wood, Maria Friedman, Dmitry Sitkovesky and many other celebrities will be attending – including a few special surprises!!

During the evening, celebrity supporters of Chickenshed will be appearing on stage to wish the London Theatre Company their best wishes and hopes for Chickenshed’s future prosperity.

There will be a sumptuous dinner, the champagne will flow, but the highlight of the evening will be a breath taking cabaret performance from members of Chickenshed showcasing their award winning productions of 2009 and also cameo performances dedicated to the inspiration of fellow performers.

A fabulous ‘money can’t buy’ auction will be conducted by Lord Harry Dalmeny from Sotheby’s which will include many exclusive holidays, backstage passes and tickets to West End and Broadway productions and fabulous limited edition jewellery created especially to celebrate the event.

The high street giant, River Island, have designed and made limited edition tee-shirts to celebrate the event which will be launched by top fashion models during the evening.

Chickenshed needs £3 million every year to continue to make beautiful and inspirational theatre working on the basis that everyone and anyone should be included, regardless of their background, age, race or ability. Many of the 1,000 young people that pass through Chickenshed’s doors each week have been excluded from mainstream schools or activities and to them, Chickenshed is a lifeline. It is hoped that the Grand Gala on Tuesday 17th November will raise in excess of £750,000 which will go some way towards ensuring that Chickenshed is able to continue with its valuable work.
