The setting is a rundown bar in the Bronx, where two lonely misfits, Danny and Roberta, strike up a halting conversation over their beer.

He is brooding, self-loathing and possibly homicidal; she is tormented, guilt-ridden and possibly suicidal. Danny, "the animal", seems incapable of tender emotion, while Roberta, an alcoholic, is distrustful of men in general.

And from the second they start talking, its explosive. A prize fight with a ringside view! Both are combative and deliver each other a barrage of lightening-quick verbal jabs and a sequence of knockout psychological punches.

Can love ever be possible for these two hopeless down and outs?

Danny And The Deep Blue Sea can be described as a brutal fairy tale; a Bronx variation on Beauty and The Beast

- and the theatrical equivalent of a shot of ouzo!!

Part of the London Fringe Festival, launching its first year in 2010
