As a follow up to their highly acclaimed performances of Don Giovanni, La boheme and La Cenerentola, the Minotaur Music Theatre returns with a shiny new production of Mozart's bitter-sweet comedy of 1790 about two happy couples, and the consequences of a bet...

The fantastic young cast mixes Rosemary Branch regulars John Savoumin (Don Giovanni, La boheme, The Mikado, Ruddigore, HMS Pinafore), Sebastian Valentine (Don Giovanni, Cox & Box, The Mikado) and Georgia Ginsberg (HMS Pinafore) with newcomers Claire Turner (Welsh National Opera), Katerina Mlna (English Touring Opera, Staatstheater Cottbus) and Kevin Kyle (Carl Rosa Opera).

Rehearsals for La Goulue below are in full swing, but since the last time Valda Aviks played the title role five years ago, she has worked so hard in shows like Jerry Springer the Opera and Caroline or Change at The National that she has lost 4 stone. As La Goulue means The Glutton, it could have been a bit of a problem. Luckily some friends from Phantom of the Opera have lent her a fat suit to restore the necessary bulk, which according to Valda "has the added bonus of being the greenest way to keep warm if the weather turns too chilly."

I thought it is brilliant so far! I was sitting in the front row and it is brill. I like the maid best she is very funny! Espesially when she dresses up as the doctor and gives them elecric shocks! I can't wait to see the second half!
