About: WHORE

Barefaced Theatre's new self-devised production of 'Whore' -

'What it comes down to is this: the grocer, the butcher, the baker, the merchant, the landlord, the druggist, the liquor dealer, the policeman, the doctor, the city father and the politician — these are the people who make money out of prostitution, these are the real reapers of the wages of sin." – Polly Adler

Come and indulge your senses at Barefaced's provocative new production. Taking inspiration from 4 prolific prostitutes from history this immersive journey will recount their dark, and at times, humorous stories. Meet Theresa Berkley a 19th Century Dominatrix, Marie Duplessis a famous French courtesan, Polly Adler a New York 1920's brothel madam and Valerie Solanas, American prostitute turned feminist writer. What links all these extraordinary women is their distorted relationship to the sex trade and how they survive within this both illustrious and unyielding industry, the industry of Whore's.

Performances of 'Whore' take place Tuesday 9th – Saturday 13th November at the Resistance Gallery, Bethnal Green, E2 9RF. Tuesday is press/preview night and there are performances at 7pm & 8.30pm Wednesday – Friday and the audience will have 30 minutes after the show to purchase drinks and explore the venue themselves. Saturday includes a Pay What You Can Matinee at 4pm on a first come basis – please email for more details. Saturday has two evening shows, one standard at 6.30pm and a Gala Night Performance which includes signed programme, Barefaced Goodie-bag, free drink and free entry into after-party within the venue itself*.

Meet Polly Adler, 'Whore', here

Finally to celebrate the end of 'Whore' and the first year of Barefaced, we are hosting 'Bared All' at Resistance, an evening of music with special guests and would welcome any of our supporters back to join us for a wonderful celebration.'
