About: Your Letter At Last

Through the love letters he sends home to his fiancé Moon, traces the story of Gabriel; a young man living the life of a foreigner in Montreal. The show explores the meaning of home for those who have left it and how madness slowly takes over nostalgia.

Your letter, at last! is a physical piece inspired by literary works such as The Chinese Letters by Ying Chen, Letters to Milena by Franz Kafka and A river Merchant’s wife: a letter by Ezra Pound.

It was not about copying the words and the stories of great writers into another language, but to push the use of creative translations to its maximum. To reach an absence of meaning to then, with the support of the physical discoveries, re-invent a new logic.

This slow and meticulous work of un-writing followed by a re-writing allowed to create an original score where the text only reaches its full power when accompanied by the corporeal portrait of the mime.
theatre re creates and produces international theatre shows. Their work is the
result of collaborations between ‘theatrewrights’ with diverse artistic and cultural experience, devising visual work on the cutting edge of mime and theatre.

Reviews

**** “ A simple, polished collaboration. Gestures are quiet and neat, Pigé’s body rises and falls with anticipation and disappointment with wonder, dreams and frustration as he waits ever impatiently to receive.»
The Irish Times, 21/09/2009, Dublin ABSOLUT fringe festival.

“And what a show! The best discovery of the festival this year!”
Lu et Vu, Avignon off Festival, 01/11/2009.
