All Around Town
by Roses Urquhart
Genre(s): New Writing, Musical, Comedy

Tickets: £12.00

Each episode is set in a liminal east end kitchen where Ruby, a Dickensian MC, runs her cabaret, The Night Kitchen Cabaret, from her kitchen table. Things rarely go according to plan, and Ruby often has to call on her family of delinquent street urchins, singing pirates, dancing private-eyes, and dead juggling great uncles to help her deal with the goings on at the Night Kitchen.

In The Imbolc Blues, Ruby meets her greatest challenge yet as a deadly virus hits the Night Kitchen. It is imbolc, the turning point from winter to spring but spring doesnít seem to be springing. The ground is too hard to bury the Boy Bunís toe, Zirconís sheep wonít give milk and the Great Eastern glacier is rumbling towards the Night Kitchen. It's a nasty case of the Imbolc Blues and Ruby's got her work cut out to find a cure.

As with each episode The Imbolc Blues takes inspiration from Gaelic lore and festivals, astrological happenings, science and local east end history and promises to be the ideal antidote to the end of the long and harsh winter. Roses Urquhart, who also plays Ruby, will be joined by a sterling company including variety star Mat Ricardo, 'Tiny Wallop' creator and actress/writer Jo Bowis, actress/aerialist Clare Barrett, hooping sensation Sharna Rose, opera up-and-comer Kristina Mansbridge, actress/musician Sophie Trott, musical director Paul Frankish and co-producer and dancer Gwyn Emberton.

The Night Kitchen Cabaret offers a whole evening of entertainment beyond that of the show. From the moment the audience steps through the door they are immersed in Rubyís world, welcomed by Rubyís friends and served gin and other drinks by her family. At the curtain the audience can take part in activities performed in the show, such as writing Imbolc haiku, building a virusí DNA or hula hooping with NKC corporate sponsors Circularity Thinking.
