‘Con, we all live in the gap between who we are and who we dream ourselves to be...'

Originally produced at the Union Theatre, this remarkable play is a tender study into how memories, real and imagined, can shape our lives. Ray is a charming, enigmatic and successful comedian turned author, his brother Con is a London taxi driver struggling to keep his family together and bruised by his brother’s success. When the two meet in a mysterious lockup, following their estranged father’s death, raw memories and unspoken truths come spilling out in a night where they must decide
who holds the emotional legacy of their dead father and who was he really?

Darren Murphy’s writing credits for stage include Tabloid Caligula (Arcola & E59E New York),
A Road in Winter (Soho Theatre/Dublin Fringe Festival) which won the Westminster Prize, The Derelicts (BAC), Bag of Monkeys (International Bar – Dublin Festival), Night Bruises the City (Southwark Playhouse),
and The Flats (Chelsea Theatre), which was shortlisted for the Verity Bargate Award.

Caitriona McLaughlin is an Irish director currently based in London. Her credits include Bottom of the World (Atlantic Theatre New York), Judgement Day (New York), Still, The Blackbird Sings (The Playhouse, Derry, Irish Tour), Killers and Other Family (Rattlestick Theatre NY) and The Recruiting Officer (Farquhar Festival, Blue Eagle Theatre Co. N Ireland).

The cast is Oliver Gilbert (Anthony), Ian Groombridge (Con), Howard Teale (Ray) and Carolyn Tomkinson (Peggy).

This production is kindly supported by the Esme Fairburn Foundation, Ray Jones, and Jill Thomas for Bruton Productions.
