Venues:
The Broadway Theatre, Catford Broadway, London SE6 4RU
Manor House Library, Old Road, Hither Green, London SE13 5SY
After an Autumn sell-out run Adventures In Wonderland is returning to be staged in two site-specific locations.
Firstly we'll be exploring the unknown backstage areas of an extraordinary Art Deco theatre – The Catford Broadway, and then allowing audiences through the grand entranceway of the Grade II listed Manor House in Hither Green. But banish those Disney images; this is the dark, dangerous and anarchic Wonderland of Carroll’s imagination.
This is a site specific sensory spectacle for adults and young people where you can follow the strange characters and backwards riddles to discover scenes, installations and games relating to Alice’s adventure. The audience feedback for the initial run of the show was incredible – again and again people said it's "a playground for grown-ups."
Experience the pool of tears, take tea with the Mad Hatter, and play croquet with the Queen of Hearts – but be sure to come last or you could lose your head.
Teatro Vivo are a performance collective made up of professional directors, writers, musicians and actors who create theatre that breaks free of traditions – they use unusual, non-theatre spaces to bring to life unique interpretations of classic and new writing.
They aim to create high quality performance pieces that work in direct collaboration with the spaces that they use, and in so doing, introduce audiences to the possibilities of what theatre can be.
Teatro Vivo will also be presenting a pop-up show as part of the Sydenham Festival on 15th and 16th July. See www.sydenhamartsfestival.co.uk/2011/friday-15th-july-pop-up-theatre-project/ for further details.
Previous work includes:

Supermarket Shakespeare performed in Supermarkets in South London
“A neat idea, cleverly executed, that puts theatre into real life and real life into theatre.” Lyn Gardener, Guardian

A reworking of Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters at the Theatre Museum in Covent Garden
“Innovative and utterly addictive” Kevin Quarmby, Rouges and Vagabonds

and their recent sell-out tour of Hothouse
"With Hothouse, Teatro Vivo have injected new life into the concept of theatre and created an exciting new world where anything can happen and everything is possible" Matt Jenkins, Newshopper

They have also created performances in HMV Covent Garden, listed buildings, Libraries, parks, and cafes. Please see the website for further information www.teatrovivo.co.uk

Teatro Vivo's style of theatre is an all encompassing experience for audiences of all ages. They aim to break down the barriers that traditional theatres put up by inviting audiences to wander through the worlds that they create allowing them their very own experience of the space and the stories told within it.

Adventures In Wonderland will be directed by Sophie Austin. Sophie trained at Rose Bruford College and has gone on to work with The Royal Court, Howard Barker, Kali Theatre, the Young Vic, Told by an Idiot and is currently working with Tim Supple on '1001 Nights' for Dash Arts. She is artistic director of Teatro Vivo and this is her sixth show with the collective.
