Macbeth, arguably one of Shakespeare's leanest plays, still bursts with poetic and stirring text. The story of political conspiracy and violent uprising has never seemed more relevant.

The atmospheric Crypt, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, makes a stunning and flexible performance space. With its shadowy bays and crumbling architecture the tale seeps out of the walls as the story is retold every evening, enhanced by the distinctive lighting design of Paul Biver. Previous commissions include BBC, IPC publishing, Dennis and Bauer Media.

Macbeth marks a culmination of two years development to create a unique approach to text that embraces the rejection of inevitability. We put a well-trained team into a space and watch them stay in the moment, empowering the audience to actively engage in the event.

Sarah Bedi will make her directorial debut with this production. Sarah's work as an actress includes Harold Pinter's The Late Middle Classes by Simon Gray, and Dominic Hill's The Three Musketeers and the Princess of Spain for ETT, Belgrade and the Traverse (Best Ensemble, CATS awards). Television work includes Andrew Davies' Affinity for ITV. Company actors hold credits ranging from The Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre, BBC, and Young Vic to name a few.

“It is so heartening that every generation throws up new young theatre professionals driven by passion…I am happy to support Baz at this exciting stage of their development and have every trust that they will continue to create work that we all want to see.” Dame Harriet Walter
