'The Love of the Nightingale' by Timberlake Wertenbaker

A pop-up production presented by The Rough Fiction Ensemble (, in association with The Actor's Centre

With a company of 14-26 actors this ever-changing pop-up production is performed with a different cast and different staging at a new venue each weekend. Caught in a triangle of desire and revenge, two Athenian sisters discover the nature of power and what it means to be silenced. Wertenbaker’s witty, moving and strikingly resonant version of the Philomele myth is presented with live choral singing and percussion.

'A stunning adaptation of the Philomele myth written with grace, authority and economy' (Time Out on Wertenbaker’s play)
