About: Play House/Definitely the Bahamas

Play House is a fast-moving and physical portrait of a young couple's attempts to set up home in a kaleidoscope of 13 short scenes, exploring the limits of love and commitment with sex, work, pregnancy, weird neighbours, cleaning the fridge and dancing. Written especially for our 40th birthday season.
In staged radio play Definitely the Bahamas, originally broadcast by BBC Radio 3 in 1986, lonely Frank and Milly depend on the rare visits of their charming and successful only child Michael. But what exactly is his relationship to the young Dutch student living in their house?

The Orange Tree Theatre was the first champion of Martin Crimp's work and produced his first play in 1982. He is now an internationally acclaimed playwright.
His plays are characterised by a fearless honesty about our strange cities and dark suburbs, with problematic relationships at the core.

★★★★ The Independent
'... brilliantly cast, incisively conceived and
terrifically entertaining productions ... Highly recommended.'

★★★★ Evening Standard
'It's quite the punchiest piece of new writing I've had the pleasure to enjoy this year [Play House] ... A splendid evening.'

★★★★ The Times
'His productions here are as spare and precise as his writing; and there's a fierce undertow beneath their elegant ripples of cool deliberation.'

★★★★ The Telegraph
'...his best work in years... often darkly but uproariously funny'

★★★★ Financial Times
'Crimp's language is brutal and witty and the actors perform with gusto'
