Reviews

THE SUNDAY TIMES * * * *

TIME OUT * * * * Critics Choice

EVENING STANDARD * * * Critics Choice

“A superb central performance by Cath Whitefield reveals an unappealing soul beneath or springing from Dora’s damaged mind.”

THE GUARDIAN * * *

“Cracknell’s opening production makes a dashing statement, combining movement and text to considerable effect"

THE TIMES * * *

“This knotty piece, at once brutal and clinical, is the first under the Gate’s new duo of artistic directors, Carrie Cracknell and Natalie Abrahami. Brave, unsettling and given an inventive, highly physical production by Cracknell, it makes a promising star to the pair’s regime.”

“Cath Whitefield is absorbing as Dora, with Éva Magyar an elegant, febrile mother and Francis Lee disturbingly creepy as the salesman. They are trapped mercilessly in the glass confines of Bärfuss’s Petri dish of a play; wriggling, miserable, horribly compelling.”
