Heard It On The Wireless
On from 16 Oct 2007 till 20 Oct 2007
by The Kransky Sisters
Genre(s): Musical, Comedy

About: Heard It On The Wireless

Venturing out from the intensely private world of their old family home in Esk, rural Queensland, the Kransky Sisters arrive at the Barbican with stories of their travels and some very unique home-spun renditions of popular tunes. Mourne, Eve and the somewhat peculiar Dawn Kransky use tambourines, a tuba, a musical saw and a clatter of kitchen pots to offer their offbeat illuminations on what they’ve heard on their wireless and seen in the magazines.

The sisters cover songs by Talking Heads, ACDC and Eurythmics. With their strange behaviour and oddball music, this closeknit family of unlikely entertainers will warm your hearts.

The Kransky Sisters have been gathering a cult following since 2001. Their hit show We Don't Have Husbands received a coveted Best of Festival Barry award nomination and a Best Newcomer award at the 2004 Melbourne Comedy Festival.

Heard it on the Wireless enjoyed sell-out seasons in Australia and New Zealand, and received a Herald Angel Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 2006. The sisters are also winners of The Melbourne Age Critic's Award, Australian Green Room Award for Best Cabaret Ensemble and the prestigious Australian Entertainment Mo Award.

‘A musical act like no other. If Dame Edna ever retired to the Outback and procreated, the result might be something like the Kranskys.’
