Waterloo East Theatre History

Waterloo East Theatre opened on 3 September 2010 and receives no funding. The build has been privately funded by Gerald Armin and his two business partners, actor Aidan Dooley and producer Pat Moylan.

Gerald Armin

Gerald was born in Swansea, South Wales and has enjoyed a successful career of over thirty five years in the business. His varied career has seen him as a dancer/actor/singer, choreographer, director, writer, TV & radio presenter, associated with, and appearing in, numerous West End musicals, regional theatre tours, television shows, pop videos and feature films that have taken him all over the world.

Highlights of his career includes, being in the original cast of the 25th Anniversary production of West Side Story at Her Majesty’s Theatre London, where he also worked alongside Jerome Robbins as the Dance Captain. Joining the The Royal Shakespeare Company for seasons in both London and Stratford upon Avon. Having the opportunity to be directed by Alan Parker in his movie The Wall and appearing at No 1 on Top of the Pops on several occasions! In 1991 he formed his theatre production company, Fairbank Productions.

Aidan Dooley

Aidan is from Galway. He trained at Guilford School of Acting London and works as a freelance Actor, Writer and Director in London. Highlights of his career as an Actor include ‘Philadelphia Here I Come’ – Wyndhams Theatre London. ‘Elegies for Angels' – Criterion Theatre London. ‘DA’ – White Bear Theatre London. ‘Players and Painted Stage’, ‘Last Apache Reunion’ – SOS Theatre Bristol. National Tours of ‘Tales of the Lost Formicans’, ‘Julius Ceasar’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ – Bristol Old Vic Theatre Company.
He premiered ‘Tom Crean – Antarctic Explorer’ at the New York International Fringe Festival in 2003. Most recently was seen in Galway Girl and Melody – UK Fuse Festival. He has worked for many years with Spectrum Theatre Projects developing various performance pieces and historical characters for all the National Museums in England including the National Maritime Museum Greenwich where the idea of a story on Tom Crean originated.
He is a Co-Director of ‘Play On Words Theatre Company’ and lives in Rochester UK with his wife Miriam and two children Liam and Nancy.

Pat Moylan

Pat Moylan is co-founder of Lane Productions, formed in 1998 with Breda Cashe, which has now become one of Ireland’s most successful independent theatre production companies, thus acquiring a reputation for producing top quality theatre for both the Irish and international markets. She was the Artistic Director of Andrews Lane Theatre for 19 years until it closed in August 2007.
Pat has also worked as a freelance producer both in theatre and film with credits that include a film adaptation of Borstal Boy directed by Peter Sheridan and Stones in His Pockets by Marie Jones for Dublin, the West End and Broadway, Thoroughly Modern Millie for London’s West End and Tom Crean – Antarctic Explorer. Pat has recently been appointed Chairman of the Irish Arts Council.
