It’s the opportunity every comedian dreams of. Double act Will Hall and Leo Reich have been given an hour to record their very own TV pilot. It doesn’t help that Leo is drunk. Or that Will is in love with the runner. Or that the tech keeps malfunctioning. But they’ve got a lot of sketches to get in the can and only 60 minutes to do so. Well, 59... Slick, fast-paced sketch comedy from two Cambridge Footlights regulars that promises to be ’not just funny... but rich with a sense of self-awareness’ **** (Scotsman).

The Bald Soprano
On from 08 Jul 2017 to 08 Jul 2017
Etcetera Theatre
by Eugene Ionesco

A hilarious and creepy interpretation from one of the most famous plays in the Theatre of the Absurd. Shadows and lights will dance around the superficiality of the human nature hiding and revealing the inconsistent personality of the characters.

By the 1960s, The Bald Soprano by Eugene Ionesco had already been recognized as a modern classic and an important seminal work in the Theatre of the Absurd.

The Smith’s are a traditional couple from London who have invited another couple, the Martinez’s, over for a visit. They are joined later by the Smiths’ maid, Mary, and the local Fire Chief, who is also Mary’s lover. The two families engage in meaningless banter, telling stories and relating nonsensical poems.

Like many plays in the theatre of the absurd genre, the underlying theme of The Bald Soprano is not immediately apparent but with this production we’ll follow the main interpretation underlining the futility of meaningful communication in modern society, all the artificial aspects of our behaviours and the superficiality of modern relationships.

On from 11 Jul 2017 to 16 Jul 2017
Etcetera Theatre
by Devised

"[Mowgli] came naked, by night, alone and very hungry; yet he was not afraid!"

Transformation. A mating ground. The sense of freedom and possibility. The desperation to control a need and suppress a fear. The shared experiences of alienation and rejection. A place of sex, substances and secrecy. A place where the law of the jungle rules over all. Directed by emerging RADA graduate Alistair Wilkinson, Man-Cub is a newly devised piece that blurs the lines of movement, theatre and personal politics.
